My internship at atrify

7 Jul 2021

In the beginning of 2021 the school that I go to decided that the three weeks long internship, which was originally canceled because of Covid-19, should be rescheduled to June 2021. After the news was announced I started to think about which type of job or company I am interested in, so as my father is working at atrify I saw this as an opportunity to work in a familiar environment, but in a team with new people. Since I was interested in working in the marketing industry, I applied for an internship at the Marketing department of atrify.

On the first day I was really nervous and doubted my ability to work at a real company, but over time I got more confident and realized that school work and working an office job aren’t that different. In my case, someone gave me a task, I completed it and shared it with the team. It started with easy tasks, and got more serious every time I finished one and started with another one. The trust that was given to me gave me more motivation to try to work even harder on the tasks. Every week I worked with another website. The first week I mainly worked in Pardot, where I synchronised prospective customers because they had an error, before I worked on the atrify pine website in the second week. On atrify pine I translated descriptions of new products, news, events and contact persons of a company and inserted a preview. The third week I worked with Salesforce, where I added missing accounts of companies and added tasks for the team. Over the three weeks I got more involved in the work involved in the marketing department and gained a lot of background information.

But what did a typical day look like? Well, there was never a day that was exactly the same as the ones before, so to give you an example I take you back to the 8th June, 2021 and show you how I spend my day at atrify.
Most mornings at 9am the team is having adaily meeting to discuss current topics, find and to share important information. In between the first and the second meeting of the day was a 20 minute long gap that I spent with synchronizing prospective customers. This was a task that I worked on when I had some extra time or when I was waiting for a new task. In the second meeting at 10am a colleague held a presentation about the recent customer satisfaction and explained solutions about how we could get a higher satisfaction. In this meeting I heard a lot of new words that I noted on a little writing pad, so after the meeting ended I looked these words up and noted their meaning. At 12am I took my lunch break to get ready to concentrate on my work in the afternoon. After I spent half an hour on synchronization, I had another meeting where I learned how emails get the right design, how to add links and how to send an email only to a specific type of customer. My last task for this day was to start translating a presentation from German to English which was a nice task to end the day. At 4pm my day ended so I said goodbye to my colleagues and went home with my father.

I am very thankful to my colleagues in the marketing department who helped me and were really patient when I wasn’t sure about something or found something hard to understand and asked multiple times if what I am doing is right. In these three weeks I learned much about “normal adult life“ and to be honest, I enjoyed it more than school. I was a little bit sad that I had to leave so soon but I am happy that I chose this internship in the marketing department and got a better idea of what I would like to do after I finish school. My teacher asked me if I would recommend an internship there to other people and yes, I definetly would.
