EuroShop - our highlights

5 Mar 2020

EuroCIS is the leading trade fair for retail technology in Düsseldorf and takes place annually over a period of three days. This year the fair ran from 16 - 20 February as part of EuroShop, the world's largest trade fair for investment needs of the retail industry. Dr. Martin Gliesche was on site for atrify. Nearly 2,300 exhibitors from 57 nations reported very good contacts, business transactions and expect lively post-fair business. 94,000 visitors came to 16 exhibition halls to learn about products, trends and concepts for the trade and its partners. Martin's personal highlights were, in addition to data-driven customer insights and fully automated warehouse management through the support of technological drivers such as robotics and AI, above all two specific applications.

One was a fully automatic assistant for the B2C area. The Ombori Store Assistant with digital voice output helps and inspires customers in store to search for items and guides customers to the exact location of the product in the store. In addition, the avatar provided support for online purchases. Enriched and high quality product data enable all those functions. Currently, the Store Assistant is used in the travel retail area of airports such as Madrid. This is an excellent example of how the quality of data can have a positive and lasting effect on the shopper's experience and value.

On the other hand, the innovative packaging solutions of All4Labels have left a lasting impression. On the retailer side, the labels effectively restrict product piracy, for example in the area of alcoholic beverages, through various security features such as NFC and black markings. The customer experience can easily be considerably expanded and deepened through personalized content.

We are curious to see what trends and news will be presented at EuroCIS 2021. One thing is sure, product data is becoming increasingly important at all levels and is not a short-term trend.
