The atrify team congratulates Timo Meßner on successfully completing his training

29 Jul 2021

Just recently, Timo successfully completed his training as an IT specialist for system integration with us by passing his final exam before the Chamber of Industry and Commerce. Timo started his training at atrify almost three years ago and we are very pleased that we will be able to employ him in a permanent position in the IT & Security department. We congratulate Timo on completing his training and look forward to working with him in the future. In order to review the training together with Timo, we took the opportunity to ask him to describe his experiences from the last few years in more detail.

Congratulations on passing your apprenticeship, Timo! How would you describe your experience with us during your training?
Timo Meßner (TM): In general, you learn to work independently very quickly. For example, I worked independently on internal projects to improve our IT infrastructure in Cologne. Nevertheless, there were also stressful times, especially during the changeover to atrify, a lot had to be adapted and new processes introduced.
What did you like best about your training?
TM: Ultimately, the internal projects. When we introduced something new, you had to deal with it on your own. It was great to be able to accompany the complete planning and introduction of new solutions and to see a permanent added value. I enjoyed process improvement and managing projects the most.
How was your training structured?
TM: I spent the first 4 months in internal IT. After that, I was in Sales Administration and did a lot of Excel evaluations. After that, I switched to marketing. I didn't enjoy this department as much because the focus here was mainly on editing our website. Afterwards, I got to know development, including the Java programming language. That was also a very exciting time. Until the end of my training, I was back in internal IT.
How did you like vocational school?
TM: It was very special, but it is also the only school in Cologne. Some of the teachers were disinterested, but some were good.
How was your final exam structured?
It consisted of two parts: Part 1 was the written final exam (subject qualification in the form of text tasks; core qualification + business part in the form of multiple choice). Part 2 was an internal project (objective: improve existing process or introduce a new process). The project had to be approved in advance by the IHK. In addition, a process-oriented report had to be written and a presentation prepared. The presentation was then presented in the oral examination and a technical discussion took place afterwards. My project consisted of evaluating and implementing a backup solution that fully secures our IT systems. This solution was also successfully implemented.
Did you always feel adequately supported by the company during your training?
TM: Yes, definitely. I received sufficient support from Benjamin as well as from my colleagues in the other departments. During the changeover to atrify, many things were left undone. We didn't have any projects during this time, but I still learned a lot during the changeover!
Is there anyone in the company who has supported you in particular?
TM: Yes, Benjamin and Thorben, but I was also supported by all my other colleagues during my training.
